bio photoDavid Durham is a student of culture. Since his childhood days traveling to and from Australia, where he lived for five years with his family, to his twelve years living in Europe, to his numerous travels to five continents, he has been fascinated by the human patchwork of our planet. Conversant in seven languages and a gifted musician, David is well versed in the various elements that make up culture – geography, language, art, history, politics, religion, and many more. Having been back in his native United States for sixteen years, he is concerned about the increasing polarization of American culture. His mission: to equip and inspire others with a broader world view and a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity. David promotes what he calls ‘cultural intelligence’ wherever he goes – be it in the classroom, among educators, businesses and organizations, leisure travelers – based on the principle that we understand ourselves better when  we seek to understand others.

Never was the importance of cultural intelligence more crucial than in our day. In an age of globalization, whether we ever cross our borders into another country or not, the world has come to us. How we deal with the ever-increasing cultural challenges today will determine the kind of world in which our children and their children’s children live tomorrow. Not only that, the absence of cultural intelligence can often lead to unfortunate consequences in the short term – from missed opportunities and gross misunderstandings, to failed negotiations and lost profits. David Durham’s insights help bridge those gaps for more fruitful results, whether in education, business, humanitarian work or travel.

David is married to the love of his life, Rebecca, and is the proud father of three sons, two daughters-in-law and a grandchild on the way. He is a serious tea drinker, loves movies (especially historical), and has recorded numerous CD’s in French and English. The Durhams reside in Nashville, Tennessee.
