Part of the genius of this creation by former marine biologist </span><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpongeBob_SquarePants"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Stephen Hillenburg </span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">is its multi-layered humor that appeals to every age group. According to </span><a href="http://spongebob.nick.com/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Nickelodeon</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">, 45 million people over the age of 18 are regular watchers.
